International engineering study programme

When studying Global Management and Manufacturing, you will be part of an international study programme, with students from all around Europe.

The study is a combination of class room lectures, group work, company visits, practical exercises in the lab and projects in companies.

Program structure
The duration of the GMM program is three and a half years and gives the degree “Professionsbachelor”, which represents the practical experience gained throughout the education. Each semester is structured in the way, that theoretical knowledge is acquired in the first 8 weeks followed an 8 weeks project in a mentor company. Classes are mostly classroom instruction, in which you are expected to play an active role, or problem-oriented projects. The study program is English taught.

Why Vera chose to study GMM

The combination of management with engineering was why I choose the GMM education. My experience since first semester have only been positive and I am very fan of the combination of theoretical teaching as well as practical experience during semester projects as it helps the understanding of theories immensely. The collaboration with one or several mentor companies will also give us an advantage on the job market when looking for a job during studies and after graduation. Studying GMM also comes with the advantage of “not only being a number”, which means, that our lectures know who we are and always have time to discuss theories and other topics besides classes.

Why Daniels chose to study GMM

What initially attracted me to choose GMM was
the concept of gaining invaluable practical experience during the course of study. Over time I have come to realize how truly beneficial this opportunity is – the GMM programme allows me to build a practical project portfolio during my studies that covers multiple topics and can serve as a great toolbox for future opportunities. On that note, what also impressed me was the amount of tools that we get at our disposal at the university – from facilities for prototyping to different statistical software tools. I believe that GMM provides me with a solid knowledge base as well as the opportunity to choose whether to further my studies and potentially specialize in a relevant area or “dive into” the industry after graduating.

Student life on Campus Herning

Students have many possibilities at BTECH. On campus, accommodation for 400 students with facilities including a fitness room, a bar (“Studenthouse”), free internet and a laundry room. There are also sports activities at Campus Herning. AU Herning Campus has a Friday bar, where students meet on Fridays (and Thursdays) to meet friends, relax with a game of table football and good music, drink a beer and socialize with other students. Moreover, does the GMM programme have their own association, which offers both social but also academic events for all GMM students. As GMM student you can become a member of IDA, the engineering association of Denmark, which also offer events for its members. The GMM programme is the only programme at campus, that may go on a study trip. It is organized the 3rd semester students and has the purpose of visiting companies in other countries to get an insight into how these businesses work – recent study trips went to Germany, Netherlands and Poland. Herning as a city is small compared to others but due to “Jyske Bank Boxen”, a multifunctional arena located in Herning, and the city itself, there is always something to do. Herning offers nightlife, shopping possibilities and everything else needed as a student. Many companies looking for student workers are in the area.
